Why dogs Bark...
Barking is a natural behaviour
for all dogs. Sometimes, however, a barking dog is a problem for his owner. A responsible
dog owner cannot let his or her dog become a nuisance to others. Chronic barking puts both
the dog and the owner at risk of complaints from disturbed neighbours. It can also create
unnecessary duties for animal control or police officers charged with upholding
anti-barking ordinances. In some cases it can also lead to the relinquishment of the dog
by an owner who does not know how to solve the problem.
Before a barking problem can be solved, a dog's owner must first understand why the dog is
barking. For many dogs, chronic barking or howling is a cry for help. A dog who does not
receive enough care or attention from his owner often becomes a barker. Dogs are social
animals and they need exercise and interaction with their human companions - and sometimes
other dogs. Some dogs are simply bored when left alone in the home or yard while the owner
is away and will bark at a passerby or at neighbourhood disturbances. Owners of these dogs
may not understand that a dog cannot be expected to sit quietly or entertain himself while
his owner is away.
Once a dog owner has determined that the dog's social needs are being met, he or she must
look for appropriate and effective ways to control barking and prevent their dogs from
becoming a nuisance to family and neighbours.

How the SportDOG NoBark 10R Works
The SportDOG NoBark SBC 10R anti-bark collar uses several features designed to shorten the
training or learning phase for the dog while promoting good behavior. Patented Perfect Bark™ Detection - A
Patented, breakthrough in bark detection! Some bark collars detect barking with a
microphone and activate on sound, but can be falsely set off by other noises or another
dogs bark. Some bark collars use vibration but can be falsely set off by other motion or
jostling. The Perfect Bark™ technology combines both sound and vibration, and
then uses a computer controlled microprocessor technology to analyze these inputs. The
result is a fool-proof bark detection system, assuring the best possible anti-bark
training collar money can buy.
Three Modes of Operation
The Sport DOG No Bark 10R has three user-selectable modes of operation allowing you to
choose how corrections are given. These three modes are indicated by the light color and
the display combination.
Temperament Learning -- The patent pending Temperament Learning (indicated
by green light) mode tracks the number of corrections needed to substantially reduce (and
in most cases eliminate) the number of nuisance barks. The system provides 10 levels of
static correction. It begins with a low-level correction (level 0). However, if excessive
barking continues, the correction intensity will increase with each successive bark until
the barking stops. This correction level becomes the starting level the next time the dog
barks. Once the dog has learned to reduce the barking, the initial warning corrections are
reduced.
Progressive Correction -- In Progressive Correction mode (indicated by
blue/green light), the correction starts at the lowest level and progresses to the next
level (to a maximum of Level 9) each time your dog barks within 30 seconds of the previous
bark. If your dog does not bark again within 30 seconds, the correction level will be
reset to the lowest level (Level 0).
User-Selected Correction -- In the User-Selected Correction mode (indicated
by blue light only), the user presets the correction level (0-9) that will be used every
time the dog barks. Note: As a built-in safety feature, if your dog barks 15 times or more
within an 80 second period, the NoBark 10R will automatically shut off for 3 minutes. This
safety feature is active in all three modes of operation. |
